Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent General Surgeon based at Aga Khan Medical Center, Booni, Chitral.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, diagnoses and manages surgical patients across outpatient, inpatient and emergency settings.
  • Performs surgical procedures within the approved scope of practice, privileges and competency.
  • Provides comprehensive peri-operative care, including pre-operative assessment, informed consent, post-operative follow-up and complication management.
  • Adheres to hospital clinical guidelines, patient safety standards, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship and risk management policies.
  • Provides supervision, mentorship, teaching and professional support to junior doctors and trainees and engage in continuous Medical Education.
  • Participates in emergency and on-call surgical services in accordance with departmental rotas.
  • Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including anaesthesia, critical care, nursing, radiology, laboratory and pharmacy services.
  • Contributes to departmental planning, service development, quality improvement initiatives, hospital committees and outreach or strategic growth programs.
  • Maintains accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation in line with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in clinical governance activities, including morbidity and mortality meetings, audits, incident reporting, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation/Focused Professional Practice Evaluation and re-credentialing.
  • Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBBS, postgraduate qualification of FCPS / MS in General Surgery from a recognized institution. Valid registration with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience, preferably within healthcare systems or large service organizations
  • Strong clinical and operative skills in general and emergency surgery.
  • Excellent decision-making, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to ethical and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in documentation and clinical record-keeping.
  • Results-driven, ethical and adaptable professional with a strong service and stakeholder focus.
  • Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
  • Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Possesses strong integrity, intellectual humility and demonstrable expertise in navigating ambiguity and constant change.
