Job Summary: Identifying the needs and priorities of the communities, implementing a project to address those needs, and mobilizing resources and support to ensure the project's success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Community engagement: To engage with the community, build trust, and establish relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Conducting assessments: Conducting surveys, assessments, and research to identify the needs and priorities of the community he/she works with.
- Project planning and implementation: Once the needs of the community are identified, help to plan and implement project or initiatives to address those needs.
- Resource mobilization: To mobilize resources, including funding, materials, and volunteers, to support the project they are implementing.
- Advocacy and awareness-raising: To raise awareness about issues affecting the community and advocate for policy changes or reforms that can improve their situation.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Monitoring the progress of the project they implement and evaluating their impact on the community.
- Reporting and documentation: To maintain accurate records of the activities, including progress reports, budgets, and other documentation, to demonstrate the impact of his/her work.
Job Specifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s in related fields such as Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Public Health, or International Development.
Work Experience:
- 3 to 4 years of experience in social work and community development.
- Proven experience in community mobilization, preferably in the context of disaster risk reduction or resilience-building projects.
- Proficiency in local languages spoken in the project area would be an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to engage and connect with communities, build trust, and develop partnerships with community organizations.
- Ability to implement the integrated project interventions and address the community needs
- Ability to advocate for community needs and concerns, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and mobilize support for initiatives.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and report on data related to project effectiveness, community needs, and outcomes.
- Cultural competency: The ability to understand and respect diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives, and adapt strategies and projects accordingly.
- Ability to identify and mobilize resources.
- Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, develop creative solutions, and adapt strategies as needed.
- Familiarity with participatory approaches and community-based development methodologies
