Orbit Entreprises Sarl is a leading FMCG company based in Kinshasa, D.R. Congo, specializing in the production of Beverages (Water, Carbonated Soft Drinks and Juice), Cosmetics and in-house Plastic. As part of our commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking experienced persons to join our team and oversee the operations respective areas.

As an Instrumentation Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all instrumentation and control systems within our bottling plants. This includes overseeing the PET Blowing, Carbonation Mixing, Filling, Capping, Labelling, Shrink Wrapping, and Palletizing machinery, all of which are vital components of the production line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain instrumentation and control systems for all production equipment, including PET Blowers, Carbonation Mixing, Filling Machines, Capping Machines, Labelling Machines, Shrink Wrapping, and Palletizers.
  • Ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of production lines by proactively identifying and resolving system malfunctions.
  • Supervise and manage a team of technicians to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery.
  • Oversee installation, calibration, and commissioning of new systems and instruments within the production lines.
  • Implement and optimize automation processes to improve production efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, particularly in relation to instrumentation systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to instrument calibration, maintenance schedules, and control systems for internal audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead root cause analysis for system failures and process optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., production, maintenance, quality control) to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation systems with overall plant operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and training to junior engineers and technicians in the team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience in the FMCG or beverage manufacturing industry.
    • At least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity overseeing instrumentation and automation systems in production environments, preferably in water, carbonated soft drinks, or juice bottling plants.
    • Extensive hands-on experience in managing instrumentation and control systems across the entire production line, including PET Blowing, Carbonation Mixing, Filling, Capping, Labelling, Shrink Wrapping, and Palletizing.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems (DCS, PLC) and their application in bottling and production lines.
    • Expertise in automation systems, troubleshooting, and optimization of production machinery.
    • Experience with PLC programming and maintenance, process control, and instrumentation calibration.
    • Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., ISO, HACCP) and quality control procedures in beverage manufacturing.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve complex instrumentation issues swiftly and efficiently.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of engineers and technicians.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
