About the role:
The Hygiene Promoters will be responsible for mobilizing communities and delivering key hygiene promotion and behavior change activities in flood- and heatwave-affected areas. They will support the distribution of relief assistance, and delivery of sessions under both WASH and Heatwave Preparedness components of the project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct 60 hygiene promotion sessions in flood-affected areas, targeting 1,500 individuals.
- Conduct 40 heatwave hygiene sessions in heat-affected communities and schools. Facilitate MHM awareness before the distribution of 500 MHM kits.
- Engage households and communities on:
a) Safe water handling and storage
b) Sanitation and waste disposal practices
c) Personal hygiene and menstrual hygiene
d) Heatwave preparedness and hydration practices
- Assist in the organization and distribution of:
a) 500 hygiene kits
b) 500 MHM kits
c) ORS sachets and IEC materials in community sessions
- Record and report beneficiary data and distribution lists in coordination with the M&E team.
- Mobilize communities for site selection and feedback related to WASH facilities (latrines, water stands).
- Facilitate focus group discussions (FGDs) to capture feedback and local knowledge.
- Support complaint and feedback mechanisms during the project cycle.
What we are looking for:
Education & Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in community mobilization or development are a plus.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization, social work, or a related field.
- Experience working in emergency projects or with marginalized communities is highly desirable.
Functional Competencies/Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for communication and reporting.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of local community dynamics.
- Knowledge of sustainable practices and environmental issues is a plus.
